The imp ortance of this initiative was underscored at the recent SCL(S) Annual Conf erence in September 2025, where Justice Philip Jeyaretnam, President of the SICC, highlighted the critical role of expert witnesses in assisting the d ecision-maker in complex disputes. He cautioned against “ships passing in t he night”—experts speaking past one another without a common dataset—and em phasised the need to avoid adding costs without clarity. His observations r esonate strongly with the aims of the Protocol: to avoid wasted time, unnec essary costs, and fragmented evidence, whilst promoting a level playing fie ld and enhancing efficiency. About the Speakers

Ar. Darren Benger - Committee Member, APIEx; Managing Director, VivATA Singapore
